Jalliawala Bagh
Also known as the Amritsar massacre of 1919, it took place in an open area surrounded with tall walls and buildings and only 2 narrow routes of entry and exit. General Dyer, the then East India Company, ordered his men to block these entry points and fire the gathering of innocent people. People tried to escape the firing by climbing the high walls or jumping into the well. Depending on the point of view it is viewed as Massacre or a control of the rebel and the Man who order General Dyer is either a butcher or a hero. For Indians it remains a massacre of innocent people and a major turning point in the Indian freedom struggle.
